Honorary Degrees

Duke University will be awarding six honorary degrees during the 2012 Commencement Ceremony.

Commencement 2012

Welcome students, family members and guests to Duke University's 160th Commencement.  We wish to extend congratulations to the graduating students and their families on this festive occasion.

Duke University Commencement is managed by the Office of Special Events & University Ceremonies.  This website provides you with ceremony information, travel and lodging information, student information and faculty/administration information for Commencement 2012, as well as historical information on Duke's previous commencement ceremonies.

Family members and friends who are unable to attend the Commencement Ceremony or the Baccalaureate Services may view the ceremonies live via Ustream.

Parking on campus Commencement weekend
All parking lots on campus will be open and available for parking without charge throughout Commencement Weekend. Parking is on a first come basis, so please allow plenty of time for parking before events. You may drop off guests in front of all event venues.  For more details regarding parking, please click here.

Baccalaureate Information
Baccalaureate service information has now been posted to the website.  Please see this page for information regarding ordering and picking up tickets as well as instructions regarding seating, apparel and line-up.  Make sure to order your tickets ASAP.  The deadline is April 22.

Weather Information
Commencement Weekend events will take place rain or shine and will only be cancelled in the event of severe weather conditions.  Please check News & Advisories for updated weather-related changes to the event schedule.
