Introduction

Taking its name from the invisible pattern of light that emerges from a photograph during development, Latent Image is Duke's annual publication of fine art black and white photography. Edited by undergraduates since 1973, the book showcases the talents of the members of the Duke community: undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Latent Image has a reputation for being a top-notch, high-quality publication. Latent Image is printed each spring and distributed for free around campus in the spring and fall. Last year, we printed over 3,500 copies. Our mission is to showcase the work of Duke's photographers and inspire interest in fine art photography around campus. We hope you will consider submitting work to what is sure to be an inspiring Volume 27. Please see our submission guidelines by clicking on the link above. While you're on our website, you can also look through past issues and read about our editors. Latent Image is governed by the Undergraduate Publications Board.
