Nikia McFadden, T'11
Nikia is a sophomore from Newtown, CT. After trying basically every major that Duke has to offer (from Math to Political Science), she has decided on Environmental Science and Policy, with a focus on environmental and international health. She is also pursuing minors in biology and chemistry, and she has aspirations to go to medical school.
Outside the classroom, Nikia is also very involved. She spends most of her time working in an environmental toxicology lab at the National Institute for Health. However, she also enjoys her work as a peer educator Healthy Devils, and being a part of Campus Crusade for Christ.
Nikia is very excited for the next upcoming year. After finishing up Organic Chemistry this summer, she will be traveling to Sydney, Australia for the fall semester. She then plans to volunteer in healthcare development Ghana during the winter. Finally, she will be traveling to London for the spring semester!
Nikia is especially proud to be a Reginaldo Howard Scholar, and is extremely grateful for the opportunities that the Reginaldo Howard Memorial Scholarship has afforded her.
