Gechi Nzewi, T'11
Ogechi “Gechi” Nzewi is a sophomore and Public Policy major from Kernersville, North Carolina. Gechi is particularly interested in economic development in West Africa. Her eventual career path is law school. Although she is still in the process of discovering and pursuing her interests outside the realm of academics at Duke, Gechi is currently involved in the Future Is Now, a mentoring group for 5th to 6th grade African-American girls from Durham. The Reginaldo Howard Scholarship has made all the difference for Gechi; without it, she would not have been able to attend Duke. In addition, the Reggies have provided a close network of experienced upper-classmen and like-minded students of African-descent that comprise the “Reggie Family.” Gechi’s roommate and best friends at Duke are Reggies. Gechi is very thankful for the Reginaldo Howard Scholarship, and for the faculty, sponsors, and fellow students that make it possible!
