Officer Bios

Linda Cao

I am a senior who graduated from a high school in Orlando, FL (home of Mickey Mouse), but my family has since moved to Seattle, WA. I was born in Shanghai, China, and lived there until I was four-and-a-half years old. I am double majoring in Biology and Chinese. I'm happy to say that I have been involved with Duke China Care since freshman year and previously served as External Affairs, Fundraising Coordinator, and VP. I love music, movies, hiking, and meeting new people!

Wendy Xiao

Hi! I am a senior from Atlanta, GA (Go Falcons!) and am majoring in neuroscience. I have been involved with the National China Care Foundation since freshman year of high school and have been an active member of DCC all my years at Duke. For the past two years I served as DCC's playgroup coordinator but am excited to be taking on a different role as vice president this year. I am also a member of Duke Chinese Dance and teach dance classes at the Chapel Hill Chinese School. In my free time I love to dance, doodle, eat, and volunteer.

Haisi Liu

I am a junior, and a lot of people pronounce my name as 'Hi-C.' I am originally from Tianjin, China and grew up ten minutes away from a medieval castle in Heidelberg, Germany. I love trees and marshes; I hope to one day work in the environmental sector, but for the time being, I am content with hiking through the wilderness every so often. Another aspiration of mine is to raise a beehive at my future home. Apiaries are great for pollination, plus you get to harvest pounds and pounds of honey each year. Spending time with children makes me happy, and I especially adore my China Care mentee.

Jenny Xue
Fundraising Coordinator

I am a senior from Apex, NC. I was born in Shandong Province and spent ten years living in the city of Tai'an. I plan on double majoring in Chemistry and Economics. I joined DCC my freshman year and have a wonderful mentee named Isabel. I enjoy eating, cooking, watching movies, and traveling. Besides DCC, I am also involved with Teach for China and work part-time in a research lab.

Catherine Zhang
Fundraising Coordinator

Hi! I am Catherine, a sophomore majoring in Chemistry. I was raised in LA, but I've always considered my hometown to be Guangzhou, China. Joining China Care has allowed me to share my love for Chinese culture with the wonderful (and super cute) girls here. Outside of school and China Care, I like to listen to music, watch Taiwanese drama shows, and play basketball.

Leanna Zhan
Playgroup Coordinator

Hi I'm Leanna and planning to major in computer science with a minor in finance. I'm from a small town, Flemington, in New Jersey and have been involved in China Care since freshman year. I truly love working with all the kids, especially my mentee, Cai Yun. In addition to China Care, I'm also involved in the Economic Student Union, tutor at an elementary school, and am a tour guide for Duke. In my free time, I love spending time with kids and also traveling to different places across the world.

Shannon Lin
Playgroup Coordinator

Hi, I am Shannon, a sophomore at Duke planning on majoring in Economics. I was born and raised near Washington D.C., in Alexandria, VA. I have been involved in China Care since my freshman year and absolutely love hanging out with all of the kids and my mentee, Lucie, every week. My other interests include eating food, playing music with my friends, exercising, and traveling.

Suellen Li
Mentorship Coordinator

Hi, I am a senior from Roanoke, Virginia majoring in environmental science & policy. I joined DCC during my freshman year and have really enjoyed the time I've spent with everyone, especially my wonderful mentee, Mei. Outside of Duke China Care, I am also involved in Project HEAL, the Languages Dorm, and work as a research assistant at a neuroscience lab. I love reading, music, food, playing games, and traveling!

Justin Yu
