Devils' Desires

In response to a resolution passed by the Student Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees, the Division of Student Affairs, the Residential Program Review Steering Committee, the Graduate and Professional Student Council (GPSC), and Duke Student Government (DSG) are soliciting proposals to improve life at Duke this academic year and in the near future. With residential life enhancements as distant as seven years away, the Board understands the importance of identifying short-term ideas and solutions to improve student life. These proposals will be consolidated and incorporated into a report to the Student Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees on December 3. This project will be called "Devils' Desires: Visions for Improving Life at Duke."

These proposals are meant to address the following areas:

A) Improving Quality of Life
B) Strengthening a Sense of Community
C) Increasing Interaction

Written proposals should be submitted on floppy disk to Vice President Dickerson's office, Dr. Judith White's office, the GPSC office, or the DSG office by 5 PM Monday, November 1. Proposals may also be submitted as an attachment to an e-mail (Microsoft Word format) to the following addresses: gpsc@duke.edu or dsg-comments@duke.edu. They should include as much detail as possible on the following points:

1) A one-page summary
2) Who is making the proposal
3) A definition of objectives
4) A list of desired outcomes/goals
5) Who would be responsible for carrying out the proposal
6) Estimated cost
7) A timeline
