Welcome to the homepage of the Duke University chapter of the International Justice Mission!
We are associated with the International Justice Mission (www.ijm.org), a Christian human rights agency based in Washington, D.C. dedicated to carrying on the work of justice in locations around the world. The International Justice Mission intervenes on behalf of victims of violence, sexual exploitation, slavery, and oppression. Its interventions are aimed at providing relief to the victims of abuse, holding the perpetrators of abuse accountable for their actions, addressing the structures enabling oppression, and finding after-care services for victims.
As a chapter, our goal is to raise awareness of the various abuses of human rights being investigated by IJM, organize advocacy and intervention efforts on behalf of victims of that abuse, and provide financial support for the work of IJM through various events. To achieve these goals, the chapter attempts to involve three often disparate communities: the undergraduate student body, the graduate/professional student body, and the Durham community.
