Oceans and Climate Change

The Oceans and Climate Change seminar is a half credit class held at Duke Marine Lab designed to explore the fundamental processes that regulate climate on a global scale with specific reference to the oceans. In this context, we will be focusing on how these processes might change in the future. The general format of the class will consist of one lecture per week that will cover basic material. Following this lecture, students will read and present directed primary literature reports relevant to the previous lecture. The final week of the seminar, students will hold a debate discussing Gaia in the context of global climate change. Finally, students will prepare scientific meeting style poster outlining one of major processes of the ocean's role in global climate change. Grading will be based on the poster, discussion and oral presentations.

This seminar is held 3:45-5:30pm Tuesday and Thursday Spring Semester in Oceanography Room C.
