opportunities for full-time Duke undergraduates to complement classwork
with research experience in a different social and cultural setting. Awards
are offered under three categories: Continuing Students, Latin American

School of Engineering International Honors Program (IHP) - The objective
of IHP is to encourage undergraduate engineering students to study or
work abroad in order to acquire a greater understanding of the international
arena in which engineering and technological solutions to global problems
are being applied.
Professional & Law Students
Institute in Transnational Law - A joint project with the Univ.
of Hong Kong Faculty of Law, the Institute addresses the educational
needs of professionals and students, in law and business, who are already
engaged in or plan to enter transnational practice in Asia or work in
corporations and financial institutions conducting business there.
for International Studies Graduate Awards for Research & Training
- provide funding to graduate students working on international, regional
or comparative research for travel to research and archival sites inside
and outside the continental United States, attendance at specialized conferences,
and foreign language and methods training.
Institute in Transnational Law - Exemplary of its strong commitment
to international and comparative legal studies, The
Duke University School of Law, with the cooperation and assistance
of the Faculty of Law of the University
of Geneva, offers an annual four-week summer Institute in Transnational
Language & Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships - The purpose of the fellowships
is to encourage the study or use of foreign languages in combination with
international or area studies.
