The mission of the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Duke University is to provide a strong physical activity program that serves the overall university community.  This is accomplished academically by creating opportunities that will enhance a student’s overall academic experience through a broad and diverse range of activity and lecture courses and recreationally through our club sports, intramurals, and personal training services.
Our mission echo’s the values and beliefs of the Athletic Departments commitment to excellence and thus the mission of Duke itself: “to engage the mind, to elevate the spirit, and stimulate the best effort of all who are associated with the University.”
