12/05 - Duke's Diversity Spend exceeds $33 million in 2005

In fiscal year 2005, Duke University and Health System spent over $33 million with Diverse Suppliers, an increase of over 30% over the previous fiscal year. Much of the increase can be attributed to the near doubling of Diversity Spend in construction projects.

12/05 - Executive Networking Conference to be held April 20-22

Mark your calendar! The 2006 Executive Networking Conference will take place April 20-22. Duke is a proud sponsor of the conference, organized by the NC Institute for Minority Economic Development, which is a highly successful forum for connecting people and ideas. The conference attracts minority- and woman-owned businesses, executives from local and national Fortune 500 companies, and experts in economic development strategy and policy.

Last year, the conference drew over 200 participants to historic Pinehurst Resort's Carolina Inn for informative rounds of panels and discussion groups...and for a few relaxing rounds of golf on world-renowned courses. A sampling of featured speakers:

  • Andrea Harris, President of the NC Institute for Minority Economic Development
  • James Goodmon, President and CEO of Capitol Broadcasting Company
  • Dr. Renaldo Jenson, Director of the Minority Supplier Development Program of Ford Motor Company

This year's conference will surely continue to "raise the ceiling of commitment and communication." A detailed schedule of events will soon be available here.
