A: So, what are some of the pros and cons of floating population? I don't know if you have any experiences yourself?
B: I think that most of the affect of floating population are encouraging. I say that because they have contributed much to Bei jing's growth and culture. For example, we eat food everyday. The vegetables we eat are grown by farmers in the near contryside. We can't really go directly to the farm to buy food. So the work of moving and selling the food are done by floating population. From my personal experience, these are my contact with floating population. They are all related to everyday life. The people that sell rice and vegetables are mostly people from outside Bei Jing. They are floating population. To live in Bei Jing they need to have certain licenses, like a temporary living permit. This is necessary. Their business are also taxed, it is all legal. They bring alot of convenience to us by their hard labor. Some of them open restaurants, like the streetside restaurants or little grocery shops. So I believe that our everyday life benefits alot from floating population that provided the labor. Also like Bei Jing right now, when there are building constructions everywhere, the people on the construction sites are also mostly floating population. They provide large amount of manual labor and contributes to the growth of Bei Jing. So why native Bei Jing people don't do these kind of work?
